Project overview
The client wanted to improve the efficiency and availability of their laboratory system by migrating to a modern Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment. This migration aimed to standardize technology, optimize costs and establish a strong foundation for future functional development. Software Mind migrated the legacy database to the cloud, modernized the entire system including the backend, created key functionalities, built a secure, automated infrastructure for the system and deployed it on containers. Notably, this project was the second Oracle database migration to GCP in Europe and required advanced engineering knowledge and experience in complex cloud migrations.
Client background
Our client is a leading provider of medical laboratory diagnostics in Poland. They offer a wide range of laboratory services, including the latest diagnostic tests, biological material collection and secure online access to results. As an industry leader, they use innovative technologies and solutions to ensure high precision and quality of medical testing.
Goals
The Software Mind team aimed to migrate the client’s laboratory system to GCP to improve system performance, availability and operational database stability. The migration was also meant to reduce technical debt generated by legacy, on-premises monolithic architecture combined with an Oracle database. The modernized modular architecture would support further software expansion, decrease maintenance costs and facilitate the addition of new functionalities. New environments and infrastructure improved testing capabilities, while system modernization limited the technological risk resulting from component separation.
