To develop a platform that can store and manage employment, drug and alcohol and safety records for commercial drivers. Additionally, implementing automation that reduces human error and increases scalability.
Client background
Our client delivers comprehensive background check solutions and insights that enable employers and housing providers to make confident choices, reduce risk and maintain compliance. With offices in 29 locations and a staff of 6,400+ employees, our client leverages leading technology and the industry’s largest global capabilities to complete background checks in 200+ countries and territories.
Goals
Along with building an in-house platform to store driver safety, drug/alcohol and employment records, our team was asked to automate the process of filling out DOT verification questionnaires (currently filled out manually per request). Additionally, our client aimed to launch an externally facing web portal so that background screeners and companies can request driver records, while implementing a new billing model that charges requestors instead of clients, so as to enable faster price increases and to scale to large clients who need support for 30,000 orders per year.
Results
Increased automation
Achieving 99% code coverage with automated testing and implementing fully automated processing. Automatic payment-on-delivery model means zero missed billling.

Delivering a user interface compliant with ADA standards and enabling the ingestion of driving records via FTP, vendor feeds or applicant data.
