Project overview

Our client was trying to deal with a 30% increase in demand during the winter holiday parcel peak. To address this issue, we designed and developed a custom mobile app tailored for ad-hoc couriers hired temporarily for the holiday season. The app needed to be reliable, user-friendly and compatible with standard customer smartphones to effectively support ad-hoc couriers.

Client background

A leading courier and parcel delivery company that is part of a large international network in Europe. Our client boasts an extensive network of courier and pick-up and drop-off (PUDO) points, including parcel lockers.

Goals

Providing an application that would enable ad-hoc couriers to handle the increased volume of shipments during the holiday parcel peak period. Developing an easy-to-use app compatible with a wide range of Android phones as a substitute for expensive and complicated scanning terminals. Integrating with the client's central transport management system for automatic assignment of packages to new couriers and tracking their status by end customers at each delivery stage, including digital Proof of Delivery. Replacing legacy paper dispatch lists with a digital app solution that would save time, while reducing the number of errors and failed deliveries.
